I didn't sing as a toddler but talked a lot, Ellen.
I wanted to sing and at 5 told my family.. tried to sing that song @ school to them.
At 6, I was in on music a lot, Michael Jackson and Free Willy. Children's folk songs from my aunt, songs @ church I liked - Ah Lay Looo Ya..
At 7, I know I tried to memorize church songs. I was allowed to sing in choir for Christmas. At 8, they let 7-year-olds in. In music, they taught the notes, so hard....
At 9, I was in such a good choir for vocal influence and strictness @ the oldest Catholic parish in the U.S. This was until 6th grade, 11|12.
I moved and for 2 years, since there was no choir and I was scared of the voice piano teacher, I was able to expand alone at home on things like Celine Dion, Shania Twain too, Laura Branigan, eventually Bonnie Tyler and Sarah Brightman, Cats and Les Miserables and stuff, .. I got in high school and was into the idea of musical theater and participated and would wear even in junior high tights and turtlenecks "like Cats" and I'd run around hoarsely and sing "The Phantom of the Opera" on a karaoke machine .. please forgive me for losing my voice! and never recording! I need to get back to that, maybe the clothes and colored lights would bring back those kinds of memories. I was so physically fit! 105 pounds.
Oh, and Sarah, I made this post for you.. I guess I couldn't get myself to not copy Jackie.. It was so exciting when she was coming out, the CDs. What, though. I decided I had to be able to sing like Charlotte Church but am off. I haven't been able to go in my old way but think as the same person I should. I tried to talk in a low, tacky voice, like people in families with people born in 1953. Since then, now I can't keep my voice from cracking. My voice teacher was more a theater person, but she didn't teach me lots of plain acting.. I am gonna actually do voice over where she taught til now and I got kicked out. She was being mean to me and so was the class and she didn't care. ':{ I don't know how well-liked she is actually.. I like her, she's on my list of people with Johnny Depp.. she would find it suggestive, though. ^99^ She seemed to like spreksteem (German sp?) You know, I can't sing because my voice cracks. That was before I took the private lessons. We didn't seem to learn much at all in her classes. What can I say? She wasn't into the romance but more acting like she expected us to work more on our own while she pledged about the local box office..
